Message from the Head of the Department
Dear Students,
Physiotherapy is an important health discipline that has developed rapidly and continues to develop with the establishment of the first college training physiotherapists in our country in 1961. Essentially, it aims to treat diseases through physical agents such as heat, light, water, electricity and exercise. The fact that physiotherapy causes minimal side effects when treating diseases has made it a preferred treatment method. Based on the principle of "do no harm", which is the basic principle in treatment, it is not surprising that physiotherapy has developed so much throughout the world and in our country.
The inactivity of our lifestyles with the industrial revolution has led to the emergence of many chronic diseases. Physiotherapy plays an important role in preventing such diseases, taking protective measures and treating existing disorders. While advances in medicine have enabled human life to be extended, they have also raised new questions about improving the quality of life in older ages. At this point, physiotherapy is of critical importance in preserving the quality of life of elderly individuals and promoting the healthy aging process.
Alanya is a region where people have been treated with natural methods for many years. Since the 1950s, thousands of people have sought cures for asthma in the humid air of Damlataş Cave, skin diseases in the mineral waters of the Mediterranean, and rheumatism and joint disorders in the hot sands of Alanya beaches. This natural healing potential forms the basis of various treatment methods in modern medicine. For example, today, methods such as Thalassotherapy, developed by taking advantage of the healing effect of sea water, have an important place in health tourism. Alanya has great potential in health tourism as well as tourism, and serious investments are being made in this field. For health tourism to be successful, qualified and knowledgeable health personnel are needed. Physiotherapy technicians trained at our university will play an important role in closing the gap in qualified personnel in this field.
In line with these reasons, Alanya University Vocational School Physiotherapy associate degree program accepted its first students in the 2022-2023 academic year with experienced faculty members and one lecturer in the Alanya Cikcilli campus. Our new incoming students will have the opportunity to practice with the most modern equipment in our school, and they will also have the opportunity to do clinical practice in hospitals and physiotherapy and rehabilitation centers with which our school has agreements.
Are you ready to add movement to both your own life and the lives of your patients?
Welcome to Alanya University.
