About The Department
Physiotherapy is a health discipline that is developing rapidly and continues to develop with the opening of the first physiotherapist training school in our country in 1961. In a general sense, it is a branch of science that treats diseases with physical agents such as heat, light, water, electricity and exercise.
The fact that physiotherapy causes minimal side effects while treating diseases has also caused it to become the first treatment technique that comes to mind and preferred in the treatment of diseases. It is not surprising that physiotherapy science has developed so much all over the world and in our country when the “do no harm” principle, which is the first principle in patient treatment, is taken as a basis. our lifestyles, which became inactive with the industrial revolution in the 20th century, have brought with them many chronic diseases.
Physiotherapy has a very important role, especially in preventing the occurrence of these diseases due to inactivity, in carrying out preventive studies and in the treatment of if they have occurred. Especially the developments in the field of medicine have brought with them the question of how we can improve the quality of life in old age while ensuring the prolongation of human life. Physiotherapy is again of critical importance in maintaining the quality of life of elderly people and teaching healthy aging.
In the current century, the development of medical interventions and tests both before and during childbirth has reduced the rate of infant mortality. Due to this, there has also been an increase in disability rates. The need for medical personnel trained in the field of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation of disabled babies is increasing day by day.
The shortening of medical intervention times in accidents has reduced mortality rates. In parallel, power losses have increased. Trained medical personnel working in the field of physiotherapy are needed both in the rehabilitation of power losses in work accidents and traffic accidents, in the return of injured people to their former lives and jobs, in the development of independence levels.
In line with these reasons, Alanya University Vocational School Physiotherapy associate degree program accepted its first students in the 2022-2023 academic year with experienced faculty members and one lecturer in the Alanya Cikcilli campus. Our students, who have the opportunity to practice with the most modern equipment in our school, also have the opportunity to do clinical practice in hospitals and physiotherapy and rehabilitation centers with which our school has agreements.
